Land Trust Alliance
The Land Trust Alliance, headquartered in Washington DC, provides tools, education, and support to its membership of over 1700 land trusts operating throughout the United States.
In collaboration with the Land Trust Alliance, over the past decade, Liquid Media has developed and maintained four of their web properties, including:
- The Learning Center — a collaborative online learning environment where individuals join others in “communities of practice” to learn about and tackle issues arising in their land trusts.
- LTAnet Digital Library — Now integrated with the Learning Center, the LTAnet digital library provides searchable access to a wide corpus of documents relevant to the land conservation community. Initially implemented in a legacy toolkit called OpenACS, Liquid Media has since re-developed and migrated the digital library and its contents to Ruby on Rails.
- Legal Clearinghouse — The Legal Clearinghouse is a searchable digital library of documents for and by attorneys working for the land conservation community. Also available is an Attorney locator that searches for and recommends attorneys working within a specified radius of a ZIP code.
- Pathways to Accreditation — The Pathways to Accreditation is a collaborative environment where members of the same land trust work together on their path towards being accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an arms-length entity that assesses whether a land trust complies with the Land Trust Standards and Practices (2004). Loosely modeled on a ticket tracker, the Pathways to Accreditation site allows team leaders to assign tasks to team members, track when the tasks are completed, and help them assemble their final submission to the Accreditation Commission.
